5.0 star star star star starHealthcare has become more of a business about the numbers vs the patients. As a very young impressionable nurse I fortunate to be hired by NM in the 80's. The president came on the last day of our orientation. What I remember more than anything was his speech of patient first, our dedication to genuine compassion acceptable empathy and professionalism. And if we treat every patient as we would like our loved ones or even ourselves to be treated we will accomplish that goal of making NM a patient vs money first hospital focusing only on our census and numbers. He ended his speech with an old shampoo commercial demonstrating word of mouth vs commercials for soliciting patients through our doors , because once they receive quality care they tell someone and they tell someone and so on and so on.... He was correct when he said nurses you are the heart beat and eyes for the doctors, registration opens our doors welcoming our patients and operators you are the front line inviting our patients and you can see a smile over the phone. Dr. Mandelin continues to uphold that mission of patient first and provides the ideal patient experience. We don't see that much anymore . If not the numbers many are dealing with Bias and even unconscious Bias still today . It is refreshing to see someone in healthcare remember why they went into healthcare , but more importantly for all of the right reasons and not for EGO, Status, or Money.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Mandelin is the best rheumatologist I have seen. After 5 years of being dismissed and misdiagnosed, he finally took the time to listen, examine me thoroughly, and reach the right diagnosis. His expertise, compassion, and clear explanation gave me hope and a treatment plan. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone seeking rheumatology care.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
