5.0 star star star star starI've been with Dr. Rosenthal for more than four years. He has prescribed a blood thinner to help me with the possibility of heart attack and stroke. I had something different this time when I went for my appt. I had this woman from a peer health navigator study. The premise of the study is: How to help members with a mental illness get better physical care. For me, through my PCP, I've been able to get connected to specialists from Northwestern for years. I am part of this study for about 6 more months. I do receive a stipend for this. I received an EKG for the appointment today. It showed that not much has changed over the past year. This is good news. Dr. R suggested that I carry around a copy of the EKG, so if I am ever in another hospital system, I can show the staff a previous EKG and this right away gives them something to compare it to. Dr. R gave me the instructions for when I go for my cholesterol blood screenings in January. The instructions were straight forward. Dr. R asks me about my diet and finds out that I still play my guitar for a hobby. He also asks me about "the frequency of my exercises." We have talked about a wide variety of subjects. I wish him a "Happy Holidays" and he wishes me the same. I know fully that if I were to have a heart incident before my next check-up, I am welcome to call his office. There was some conversation among Dr. Rosenthal, my peer health navigator and myself. I am grateful that Dr. Rosenthal put up with having the peer health navigator in the appointment this time. The study is a IIT and Thresholds study.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Rosenthal has been my cardiologist since 2006. He is an excellent doctor, and I have complete confidence in him. He is knowledgeable, kind, patient, and doesn't rush through appointments. He gives the patient all of his time that's needed.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
