5.0 star star star star starDr. Bellaguarda is an excellent doctor and scientist. It is great to work with someone who is actively engaged with research, not only because I know that I'm receiving care based on the latest evidence, but also because I think it's made her a better communicator. But above all, I appreciate that Dr. Bellaguarda listens to me and works with me my on my care - I feel like I have a partner upon whom I can rely.

5.0 star star star star starShe is highly capable, well informed, kind and considerate, and has a good and responsive staff. Unlike some gastroenterologists at Northwestern, she is not full of herself and does not default to surgery as a prime treatment option. She has listened to me and made my goals her priorities in treatment, and has kept my disease in remission for four years.

5.0 star star star star starShe listens and she explains. I do colonoscopies without sedation. This last one was a little difficult when the scope got hung up making the last turn towards the appendix. She offered sedation and I declined since I knew the discomfort wouldn't last and I considered the discomfort manageable. I appreciate her concerns and also her willingness to trust my judgement on this issue.

5.0 star star star star starI’ve had three colonoscopies performed by, Dr Bellaguarda and I’ve been very satisfied. She has a personal touch. She was the only doctor who talked to me after the procedures. I never experienced that with the previous doctor who performed several colonoscopies.

5.0 star star star star starDr. B. is responsive to my questions and I always feel like she has my best interest at heart. SHe suggested strongly that I get a bariatric sleeve surgery from Dr. Nagle and I listened to her and I am so grateful to her. She is warm and caring and i just admire her so much!

5.0 star star star star starShe takes care of a dear friend... and then my gyne was very happy to learn she was my doctor. So, she came highly recommended. As for what I think... I like her straightforward style. And I'm comfortable enough to be unconscious when she works on me. LOL

5.0 star star star star starAfter years of dealing with gastroenterologists who did not explain or help me consider options, she was the first doctor willing to spend the time to help me and the only to act promptly to start helping me.

5.0 star star star star starHer patient, out daughter. is 39 years old and has developmental disabilities. It is hard to treat someone who cannot tell you where it hurts or how she feels. Doctor Bellaguarda, handles it with kindness and by talking to us to get the answers she needs.

5.0 star star star star starI saw Dr. Belleguarda for a 2nd opinion for treatment/possible surgery. She was very attentive in letting me explain my complex past medical history. She reviewed and confirmed all of my past records during my visit. A lot of doctors would scan or glance at them prior to walking in the room for your consult (medical field retiree - I know the drill). I didn't feel rushed or made to feel as 'you're just a 2nd opinion so no need to waste a lot of time on her'. Dr. Bellaguarda asked questions that my current GI never did, she dug deeper into possible diagnoses which were shrugged off in the past. She suggested a game plan to get a true diagnosis after many years of inconsistencies. When she asked if I wanted to send a consult letter to my current GI, I told her don't bother, he's fired as of today.

5.0 star star star star starI was seeing the doctor for a second opinion regarding treatment for my condition. Although she’d reviewed my file, Dr. Bellaguarda asked me to tell my story from diagnosis till now. She listened carefully, asked clarifying questions and took the time to answer all of my questions. She was kind, understanding and relieved many of my concerns.

Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
