5.0 star star star star starThis doctor was understanding, very thorough, took his time to understand the issue involved. Thru communication, he came up with a diagnosis and a treatment plan. And after all this, before exiting, he discussed follow up and follow thru. Excellent job. Thank you.

5.0 star star star star starWe seriously don't know how he could be anymore kind, through, knowledgeable or patient! He came highly recommended for not only his knowledge but awesome bedside manner!! Which in a very limited busy medical field these days is soo comforting!!! Puts my husbands and me as his wife at ease and comfortable to discuss all of our concerns with his ever changing Parkinson's disease

5.0 star star star star starDr. Akhtar was a system-generated neurologist for me. Sometimes that approach works better than others. In the case of Dr. Akhtar, I feel I hit the jackpot. He is truly attentive, takes his time in explaining procedures and results, is expert in his field AND seems really interested in me and my details. I really appreciate him.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Akhtar is one of the finest doctors I have ever had. He exudes care and compassion second to none, and his communication style is warm and genuine. He takes the time to explain the intricate ways my essential tremor affects me_not only directly, but also in its connections and impact on other areas of my health and daily life. I left my visit feeling truly heard, respected, and cared for. I feel fortunate to be under his care.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Akhtar really listens to me and looks at me (not his computer) during our appointments, which is refreshing these days. He is thorough and is willing to spend as much time as necessary with me. I wholeheartedly trust his expertise and am glad that he is my neurologist.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg. To learn more about our Disclosure and Professional Integrity Policy, and the conflict of interest policies of our joint affiliate survey partners, please go to our Office for Regulatory Affairs Policies page.
