5.0 star star star star starDr Akhtar is awesome. I’ve seen Neurologist from Mayo, MGH, Penn, UCLA and Dr Aktar is at the top of the list. He is knowledgeable, respectful, excellent at explaining his diagnosis or reason for further studies. He is a great physician in the fullest sense of the word.

5.0 star star star star starVery intuitive to me and what is going on with my symptoms and how to treat them. He gave me some options for what we could try and wanted to know how I felt. He has a very calming presence and truly listens.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Akhtar was very thorough in his evaluation. He listened very well and made me feel as if I was his only patient giving me his full attention answering all the questions I had without time constraints. Overall, he could not have provided a better or more comfortable experience while thoroughly explaining my diagnosis and expectations for moving forward.

5.0 star star star star starHe is great at what he does. He makes you feel comfortable and confident in the treatment you are receiving. He follows through with what he says he’s going to do. That is a big win for me. I’ve had so many doctors write me off as a unique case and pretty much leave me to deal with my symptoms because they can’t figure out a definitive diagnosis. I actually have a lot of my life back because of him. I still struggle but he helps manage my day to day issues. I have been through so many neurologists that gave up trying to help me or treated me like I was ignorant. I’m no doctor but do work in the medical laboratory profession and have some insight on things. He has been willing to help me on my journey and tests me with kindness and respect. I truly appreciate that.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Akhtar is knowledgeable, respectful, focused and confidence-inspiring. He is definitely one of the best doctors I've ever consulted. I left our visit with a clear map for follow-up and the feeling that I have resources at NM that will support me in the years ahead. This may sound odd, but Dr. Akhtar somehow transmuted my fear of Parkinson's into curiosity. I have more compassion for myself and others with this disease.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
