He was very empathetic, really cared about the ppmi project and the people. Good rapport with Bailey. He performed a couple of procedures on me and asked a lot of questions and was very professional.

When Dr. Akhtar questions and listens to me, I feel he is very cognizant of my issues. His expertise helps builds our trust and I have a real sense that he cares about me as a person and really wants to know how I am doing with my Parkinson’s. He is one of your best!

Dr Akhtar is so knowledgeable and positive in our interactions. He is very observant and picks up the slightest changes between OFF and ON times. He was able to answer my questions about the research study and about how the process is often difficult to find participants in the window of time. Learning more about the research process was enlightening. Dr Akhtar is amazing!

Dr. Akhtar was friendly and quite interested in Dick’s condition. He asked about when conditions began, what tests he had done locally, reviewed his test results and disks, reviewed his medications, gave him physical strength tests and discussed his treatment plans and possible conditions. Appointment was for 1 3/4 hours.

I saw Dr. Akhtar as part of the Parkinson's Disease PPMI research study. I found Dr. Akhtar to be professional with excellent communication skills. He was willing to listen and asked me in-depth questions. He talked to me as a person not down to me. I would like to continue to work with him.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg. To learn more about our Disclosure and Professional Integrity Policy, and the conflict of interest policies of our joint affiliate survey partners, please go to our Office for Regulatory Affairs Policies page.
