5.0 star star star star starDr Sheng is approachable. He seems knowledgeable (this was my first time with a Spine Expert, so I have no expectations.). His mannar worked for me as it was more of a conversation than a one way directive. I look forward to my next session with Dr Sheng. No doctor stands alone, especially as point person in an area of expertise. It's the team that surrounds him that really matters. I met his nurse practitioner who also was open and helpful. Subsequent email via MyChart have been answered quickly with answers that resolved any issue.

5.0 star star star star starI liked Dr. Sheng's approach: Since my case was not immediate danger, he started with the least invasive (physical therapy) to see if it would solve the problem. It did not help, so now we our going for more imaging (MRI) to try to isolate the cause of the problem.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
