If you’re expecting a baby or planning a pregnancy, Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital delivers a full range of care to make this time as healthy, personalized and stress-free as possible. You and your family will be surrounded by expert physicians, highly trained nurses and other care team members who are committed to your baby’s and family's well-being.
Pre-register for Your Delivery
Please pre-register for your delivery before your seventh month of pregnancy. Pre-registering helps ensure we have key information already when you arrive at the hospital to give birth.

Parking and Transportation
The hospital Main Entrance is at 1000 North Westmoreland Road. Parking Lots 1 and 2 have valet and self-parking options.
Use the Main Entrance for Labor and Delivery Services.
Use the North Entrance and Parking Lot 1 if you are going to the Cancer Center at Lake Forest Hospital. You can drop off a patient at the circle drive. We offer valet services at the North Entrance.
The Emergency Department entrance is inside the hospital’s South Entrance. You can drop off a patient at the circle drive. We offer valet services at the South Entrance. Self-parking is available nearby.
Park in Lots 5 and 7 if you are visiting the Bays (900) and McGaw (800) Medical Office Buildings. Enter the Bays Building through the McGaw Entrance.
Valet Services
We provide no-cost valet services at these entrances:
- Emergency Department: Valet parking is available 24/7.
- Main Hospital Entrance: Monday through Friday, 5:30 am to 5:00 pm.
- North Entrance (Cancer Center): Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm.
- McGaw (800) Medical Office Building: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.

If you have certain risk factors for genetic disorders, you’ll have access to board-certified genetic counselors. They can help you learn about inherited disorders, identify your risks and guide you through a personalized plan for your pregnancy. Learn more about prenatal genetic testing.
- Comprehensive prenatal care: In addition to prenatal care, we offer resources like programs and classes to keep you healthy and prepared for pregnancy, childbirth and parenthood. Our maternal-fetal specialists are here to care for any complications that may arise.
- A personal childbirth plan: We want to create a memorable childbirth experience for you and your family. Please share your preferences with your care team so we can help provide the best possible experience. Consider your preferences for:

- High-comfort, high-tech birthing suites: When it’s time for your baby’s arrival, you’ll settle into a private labor-delivery-recovery suite. - Pain management options: During labor, you’ll have a variety of pain-relief options, including nonmedication methods, medications and anesthesia (typically an epidural). Epidurals are administered by anesthesiologists, who are on-site 24/7.
Doulas During Your Stay
You are welcome to bring a credentialed doula to support you during your stay. Please note:
- Doulas are not provided by Northwestern Medicine. So, you’ll need to arrange for one yourself.
- Credentialed doulas do not count toward your visitor limit in the labor and delivery room or postpartum unit.
- In the operating room or recovery room, doulas may only be present if they are your one designated support person. Their presence also must be approved by the healthcare team.
- Doulas must present their credentials to your care team upon arrival. These will be scanned into your health record and MyNM account.
- If your doula has any questions, they may contact the Labor and Delivery unit at 847.535.6352. Ask for the unit manager.
