Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital Breastfeeding Center’s mission is to improve the health of women and children through education, support and promotion of breastfeeding. International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® (IBLCE®) and International Lactation Consultant Association® (ILCA®) have recognized the Kishwaukee Hospital Breastfeeding Center for excellence in lactation care. Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital has received the IBCLC Care Award in recognition for staffing professionals who hold the prestigious International Board Certified Lactation Consultant® certification and providing a lactation program that is available five to seven days a week for breastfeeding families. The Kishwaukee Hospital Breastfeeding Center offers complimentary lactation consultations by appointment, serving all new and expecting moms in Northern Illinois, no matter where the baby was born. In addition, the consultants round on new moms on the unit, a warm line is available to answer breastfeeding questions, and a new moms’ support group is offered.
