NM Discovery Program West Chapter
The NM Discovery Program West Chapter is open to residents of DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, LaSalle, Lee and Ogle counties. Students interested in participating in the NM Discovery Program West Chapter must meet the following eligibility requirements. Space is limited.
- be a resident of DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, LaSalle, Lee or Ogle County
- be at least 15 years of age
- be entering into sophomore or junior year of high school
- have an academic GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 GPA scale)
- commit to the two year program, including attendance at all Discovery Program meetings and community service activities
- commit to abide by all Discovery Program Guidelines and Policies
Meetings are held at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois, Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Illinois and various off-site locations. Meetings occur once a month and are generally held on Saturday mornings from 9:00 am-12:00 pm. However, meetings will occasionally be held on weekdays when students are typically out of school (e.g. President’s Day and during the summer). Twice a year, participants in the West Chapter will have the opportunity to join the Central/North Chapter at meetings at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago. Please note, all dates, times and locations are subject to change. Participants are responsible for their own transportation.
Meeting topics vary by month and activities may include tours, guest speakers, group discussion, and hands-on projects. The two year curriculum is designed to expose students to a wide array of potential healthcare careers. Please note, all topics and activities are subject to change.
