Overview

Types of Cancer Treatment

There are a variety of treatment approaches with cancer, depending on the location of the cancer and the severity of it. If cancer is located in one area (localized), surgery may be the best option. Surgery is most successful when cancer has not spread to other areas.

Other courses of treatment, such as radiation therapy and chemotherapy, may be given to patients with cancer along with surgery. These treatments may occur before or after surgery.
