Treatments
There is no cure for MOGAD. Treatment focuses on managing and preventing attacks, and on minimizing damage to your CNS.
Typically, the first recommended treatment for MOGAD is high dose corticosteroids. These are medications that reduce the swelling that causes symptoms. Clinicians give them during an attack.
If your symptoms do not get better, your care team may use plasma exchange or immunoglobulin.
People with recurring MOGAD attacks may benefit from treatments that suppress the immune system so it does not attack your CNS.
These include:- Rituximab
- Mycophenolate mofetil
- Immunoglobulin
