Acetylcholine Receptor Antibody Test

The acetylcholine receptor antibody test measures the concentration of an unusual protein, acetylcholine receptor antibody, in your blood. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that sends messages between nerves and muscles, and the protein interferes with that process.

Most patients with myasthenia gravis have abnormally elevated levels of acetylcholine receptor antibodies.
