Upper Airway Stimulation
Upper airway stimulation (UAS) is an emerging, state-of-the-art treatment for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea. It involves placing a small device at the top of your upper airway to keep it open so that you can breathe normally and stop snoring. Your sleep surgeon can implant this device during a same-day outpatient procedure.
To qualify for this procedure, you must:
- Have a body mass index (BMI) of less than 32
- Undergo sleep endoscopy to evaluate your airway collapse pattern
