Symptoms of a stricture include:
- Discomfort due to the continuous sensation of a full bladder
- Frequent urge to urinate
- Prolonged urination
- Weak urinary stream
- Inability to void at all
Severe complications arise when the retained urine in the bladder becomes infected with bacteria, as it cannot be routinely evacuated or when impaired bladder emptying also leads to impaired urine transport from the kidneys to the bladder with subsequent kidney damage.
