5.0 star star star star starNot enough room to talk about how impressed my wife and I were with the televisit with Dr. Schimmel. He was kind, friendly, understanding, not rushed, very willing to listen to us and answer all of our questions. Looking forward to meeting him in person.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Schimmel is obviously one of the best in his field of cardiology. He did a stent procedure that I had been told by another doctor couldn't be done. In spite of his expertise, he is easy to talk to and answers each question thoroughly in a caring, gentle manner.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Schimmel was excellent. He listened well and heard my concerns and recommended the course of action. I could tell he knows his craft and felt in expert hands. I would tell people to go to him just be wary of the nurses being a little stressed out.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Dan R Schimmel is so consistently patient, kind, skilled, focused, and invested in the best possible outcome for his patients and will go the extra mile to ensure patient well-being and best surgery. These are difficult procedures, and yet he exudes such calmness and even-temperedness, making everybody in the room feel at ease and making the entire surgery as smooth and positive as possible. Even during my procedure, his staff would come in with questions or situations with external patients, and he managed those calmly and without ever diverting attention or focus from my procedure. The other thing I especially admire is Dr. Schimmel's dedication to authenticity and transparency. In a past BPA procedure when my arm reacted to an IV ingredient, he immediately took a photo to document and identify later; and we continued w procedure rather than overreacting to what was clearly just a blip. His ability to not be distracted by minutia and to use every resource at his disposal, to the best of their/his ability, is pretty amazing- especially when he does this without ever losing his calmness and positivity. In sum he is extraordinary, and has excellent mentorship and leadership skills, as well as exceptional patient communication skills. He has taken the time at every procedure to explain what is happening and share interesting details with my husband and I and to ensure that we understand we are as much a part of my team as he and all of Northwestern caregivers. This is especially important for a patient because it makes you want to not waste the gift given from the entire surgical process. Dr. S has also strongly supported my postop pulmonary physical therapy which has also made a huge difference for me.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Schimmel is the epitome of what all doctors should be--empathetic, superior in skills needed for stents, so easy to talk with to find a solution. I truly feel he always had my best interests as of prime importance, and I was so impressed with his ability to explain the procedure to be done in terms that were easy for me to understand. Truly an exceptional physician in every sense.

5.0 star star star star starAs I said above his professionalism, sincerity, talent, and 100% engagement in the work that he does exudes to everyone a feeling of inspiration and energy to take what's been given to all of us by him, his knowledge has helped and his patience- and be their very best to equal the standard of care that he provides.

5.0 star star star star starBefore my procedure I had to go to the bathroom. I walk by him, he stopped me to introduce himself, we shook hands, and briefly discussed my upcoming procedure. In the brief time with him in the hall way he showed friendliness & confidence and that made me very positive about Dr. Schimmel.
