The doctor took time to listen to my background, observations and then he read my past history and explained the steps he is going to take towards medical treatment in a way I can understand. He was very understanding of my needs, very professional and patient centric.

One times I had a lot of swelling info my lower extremity and had to go to ER. But I text Dr. Schimmel on my chart and didn’t have to wait in ER but in comfortable waiting area for them to prepare my hospital room. He made me feel very important that day. It’s just the little things that really count and make you feel special.

Doctor Schimmel was outstanding, I had not previously had my condition explained to me the way he did. He took his time and was very thorough and answered all my questions despite them being scattered. He found some gaps in my previous care and filled them in. My previous doctors lacked my faith and confidence and Doctor Schimmel not only gained that but surpassed my expectations.

Dr Schimmel is outstanding. He is so smart and knowledgeable in his field. Very informative in explaining in plain English what he is thinking and what is happening as well as what he prescribed treatment is meant to do. Very proactive in caring for overall health.

He was prepared for the visit having read the lab results from a different doctor. (I was seeing him for a second opinion.) He was a good listener and thorough with his explanation of how he wants to move forward. Also, he has an affable manner.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
