At Northwestern Medicine, our patient’s feedback is important to us. While different care providers have their own unique strengths, we strive to be as transparent as possible with our quality of care.
Dr. Stein is the most wonderful doctor I have ever come in contact with. He is extremely thorough and really takes the time to answer any and all questions. He has been the best and I'm lucky to be in his care.
He spent a good amount of time with me, explained everything so I understood, took an interest in me as a person and waited with me for important test results. Also, he always replies very quickly to any messages I send.
Dr.Stein possesses the qualities we want in our doctor: research acumen, genuine interest in me as a person and my health needs, solid and continuous follow-up, easy access to him, scheduling options, and inspiring confidence in the recommendations given for my PV diagnosis.
As I explained above, he chose to mistreat me before he asked me one question or gave me a chance to explain my own side of the story. Maybe Dr. Stein has his own issues right now. He seems very uptight and angry. COVID 19 may be triggering some unwarranted outbursts but I am an 83 year old with many health issues so don't appreciate dealing with an unnecessary mistreatment.
My hematologist was upset because I sought another opinion so he managed to anger Dr. Stein in the process. Dr.Stein raised his voice and chastised me by saying very loudly “you don't need a bone marrow test if nothing is changing. He also praised my doctor and berated me for not appreciating what a fine doctor he is. I was completely shocked! Later, after finally listening to some of my issues, he admitted that I might need a cone marrow test if I was changing medications. He eventually became annoyed with me and barked “ you have asked that three times already!” My family and I went to a great deal of effort to drive from Peoria, Illinois to Chicago. I regret making the trip at all! I cried about it when I explained to my daughter how I felt being treated so poorly.
He took the time to explain everything to me in detail. I was very concerned because I was afraid I had some sort of cancer but he calmed my fears and explained exactly what they were going to test for and exactly what they were going to do and I felt much better leaving the appointment.
Dr. Stein ia a compassionate doctor who listens, explains & recommends treatments. He always gives feedback to each bloodtest as quickly as possible. I'm so thankful I found him after having a negative experience in the beginning of my diagnosis.
Dr Stein is a wonderful caring doctor..He is patient and really listens to your issues and works well with his patients, speaking on the patient's level. He answers all questions in an empathetic manner and works as a team with his patients.
Dr. Stein does a great job, wearing many hats ie spanning the wide divergent spectrum of research, treatment, staff mgmt, patient bedside manner. And many things I likely dont see ie teaching, paperwork, etc. I most appreciate that a) he manages to see me every 3 months b) is often available via mychart; and c) does everything possible to accommodate my illness need and peace of mind. Thank u dr stein :).
