5.0 star star star star starDr. Koo is an excellent physician and communicator—empathetic, thorough, and responsive—personally and professionally. He puts me at ease during our time together and is always respectful re: my questions, clarifying his réponses as needed. He clearly takes my medical problems and concerns seriously. He keeps on top of all my labs and tests and when I come in for an appointment it’s clear he’s taken time to refresh his knowledge of my medical history and current issues—including recent tests and input from other specialists in my My Chart re: conditions he’s keeping an eye on. 5.0 star star star star starIt was my first visit with Dr. Koo, and he was personable and very thorough in taking a look at my medical history my current vitals and medications, and my health concerns. I felt he was genuinely interested in getting to know me as a person and a patient, and took my medical concerns seriously, evaluating them in terms of my medical records, including previous test results from NORTHWESTERN and a doctor in Florida. He was easy to talk to, and didn’t condescend, or dismiss my questions. Instead, he thoughtfully answered and explained the ramifications of medication and treatment options.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
