At Northwestern Medicine, our patient’s feedback is important to us. While different care providers have their own unique strengths, we strive to be as transparent as possible with our quality of care.
I scheduled the appointment months ago and chose Dr Curran specifically from the NM website because of her qualifications. I spent maybe 40+ minutes with a student on his first day. I'm happy to work the student and be a part of the education process, but I also made an appointment with an experienced expert for a reason. I spent maybe 20 minutes with Dr Curran out of a 2+ hour appointment. I'm also not sure why I was there for 2 hours. I work in a field where I diagnose problems for others. I know the expertise that I apply to my diagnosis after 20+ years of experience is far more developed, nuanced, and valuable than what someone in my field could do with even a few years of experience. I've had chronic migraines most of my life. How much pain do I need to experience to get the full attention of an experienced doctor? The student did a great job, my problem is that I have a serious problem that profoundly effects my life and I waited months for the full attention of an experienced doctor that I chose. I'm not sure I had enough of an experience with Dr Curran to recommend her.
I was able to express my circumstances and be heard by the doctor and her resident, and felt like an active participant collaborating in my care, with the promise of additional help I need going forward being available to me.
Dr. Curran was wonderful, she was extremely knowledgeable and thorough answering my questions, ensuring I understood. Dr. Curran made me feel comfortable and took her time as if I was her only patient.
Dr Curran listened to me closely and examined my history and previous test records and was able to put together a treatment plan that has significantly improved my functioning and well-being. She has my trust! I drive three hours to see her and am happy to do so.
I have experienced compassionate and highly skilled care from the physicians at NW Neurology. Also, the staff in the department from check-in to nurses, to med students, to residents, etc. have all extended kind and top notch care.
I will recommend her for someone with migraines or stroke concerns, as she mentioned she specializes in those. But I'm having peripheral neuropathy issues- even she said she'd pass me along to someone else.
I can see that Dr Curran does her best for her patients and wants them to feel better. She's not as outgoing and warm as some people want their doctors to be. That's not a necessity for me, I just want someone smart who can understand my health situation and help me figure out how to improve it. She is great at that. If I had a really sensitive friend visiting her for the first time, I would probably warn them to expect her to be really clinical and straightforward in interactions. I love that about her, but some people might prefer more figurative hand holding. Dr Curran is an A+ in my book.
Dr. Curran never rushes in visits with me and is always running on time. She is kind and empathetic without sugar coating things. She is open to my suggestions and talks me through my options thoroughly at each visit, making me feel heard.
Highly knowlegeable at treating my ailment and has the best demeanor of listening and making my medical treatment effective. Has the best personality of being relatable. I would highly recommend Dr. Curran to others.
Today was our first pleasant visit at Northwestern. This was our final attempt to see if things would go well and it did. Our past visit didn't go very well. Dr Curran was amazing. She talked to my daughter and I and explained her diagnosis with expertise. She answered all of our questions and helped us understand my daughters condition. Thank you Dr Curran.
She takes the time to listen & find out what the problem is if she doesn't know right away. She doesn't just prescribe some medication & say try this & see me in 2 weeks. She is very understanding & will go above & beyond if she doesn't think she can help you or if she thinks you need help in another areas that she's not in.
