5.0 star star star star starDr. Kalb always sees me right on time; he thoughtfully reads what I write down on my printed updates (because I cannot speak); he pauses and listens to what I type on my speech device, and he also listened to what my daughter had to say (she accompanied me for communication and clarification purposes). Dr. Kalb even saw something on my written update that is not ALS related, and offered to do a blood test to see if it is treatable. Dr. Kalb is always compassionate and friendly and even laughs a bit with us, gives us more hope for enjoying the days we have. .

4.0 star star star star star_borderI just started seeing Dr. Kalb So it’s difficult for me to provide a full assessment especially since I’ve only seen him once in person and had one telephone visit I’ll see him again in person and three months I think that will be better

5.0 star star star star starHe is very kind and encouraging, understanding and patient. He has a lot of experience and teaches at a research hospital, all good credentials, as well as being a calm likable person, important when dealing with a life-threatening disease.

5.0 star star star star starI like that Dr Kalb himself seems to be very knowledgeable, and that he also called in other experts as needed. He shared bits of his knowledge with kind regard as to how I was receiving a possible problematic diagnosis. He spoke carefully and yet straightforwardly (called himself a ‘brute' because he was direct, but I actually like his candor). Yet he seemed to be cautious in not being too pessimistic, but waiting for further progression to confirm his probable diagnosis. I'm also thankful that Dr Kalb took a lot of time with me and was patient in answering all my questions.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Kalb is extremely thorough, very kind and compassionate; obviously a good teacher to the student and resident who accompanied him. He made me feel at ease, and that they were really interested in my diagnosis and care. His good listening and diagnosing skills were evident, not rushing to conclusions, and he even had a sense of humor making me laugh a bit although we were discussing serious symptoms. .I like the fact also that all neurological-related staff are together in one place; had a breathing test (Tina), saw an SLP (Julia), and a dietician/nutritionist (Laura) all in one visit! Everyone was very kind and interested in me.

5.0 star star star star starFrom the moment my husband and I arrived for a second opinion, we were made to feel very comfortable. I was encouraged after meeting Dr. Kalb and have decided to switch my care from my previous neurologist in the suburbs to Northwestern. I found every contact from Dr. Kalb, his nurses, the speech therapist, lab nurses, and scheduling to be extremely friendly and helpful. I look forward to my continuing care at Northwestern Medicine.

5.0 star star star star starTop notch facility.....friendly staff, very professional..Can't say enough about Dr Kalb.....was very thorough and explained things that I could understand, and answered all my questions in the same manner......as I am from Florida we will keep in contact online and he will be the coordinator with a neurologist from there. He gave a good treatment plan to follow in Florida. I am confident he will do all he can to help me, of which I am truly appreciative. Thanks to Dr Kalb I have some peace of mind about my future with this disease...His team of doctors are also very knowledgeable and caring and helped greatly with my treatment plan. I will be in contact with them also from my home in Florida. Thanks to Dr Wolfe, her assistant, Megan and the others working on my case...As it was a bit of a risk coming up here due to the Coronavirus, it was the best thing I have done. Thanks to all!

5.0 star star star star starI saw Dr. Sam Ho initially. He referred me to Dr. Kalb. Both are wonderful doctors. They are very professional, very caring, and have great patience with me to allow me to express myself via interpretation. They explain things to me in a way that I can understand, and allow me time to ask questions. Wonderful doctors at NM Neurology!!

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care.
