3.0 star star star star_border star_borderDr. Walsh seemed very concerned, compassionate, and patient. Someone I think I could trust if I need to have surgery on my Cervical Spine. Laura Bailey APRN, CPN on the other hand lacked being concerned, compassionate, and patience. I was a new patient trying to navigate my new injury, and needing options. She did not seem to be able to get past the options she was giving which were not going to work for me, and my pain. The doctor was able to work around her options though. She clearly has not been in the kind of pain some of us are in that bring us to doctors like Dr. Walsh.

5.0 star star star star starProbably the most personable surgeon I've ever met (and I used to work with several). Took the time to listen to my questions and concerns and addressed them without condescension. My pain has been basically non-existent from the day after surgery and I'm sure that has to do with his skill and expertise.

5.0 star star star star starPrior to engaging Dr. Walsh, I had seen another noted neurosurgeon in North Shore area who could not identify the source of the constant pain that radiated down my right leg and rendered exercise impossible. Dr. Walsh quickly identified the issued and then showed me on the MRI where the nerve had been impinged at S1. He took the time to ask questions, listen, and thoughtfully diagnose the issue. He was open to a stepwise approach that first started with an epidural but then moved to surgery when it was clear there was no additional benefit without alleviating the structural issue. I am a patient relieved finally! Wish I had started with Dr. Walsh first.

5.0 star star star star starVery careful evaluation of prior and current MRI to find the root cause. Very impressive and helpful showing me, the patient, the picture that showed the compressed nerve. Prior specialist had not found it nor initial review of MRI.

1.0 star star_border star_border star_border star_borderI don’t think his team did a great job explaining nor the discharge was explained thoroughly. Was a bit disappointed. Surgery was a success though. I felt now being rushed not really cared for enough.

5.0 star star star star starHave been seeing Dr. Walsh for over a year, he is very personable and I felt very comfortable with him from the very first day and his diagnosis of me. He always answered my questions and addressed my fears honestly. After a year of delaying the surgery the day came and I could not be happier with the results. This doctor says what he does and does what he says. I not only would but already have recommended him to several people and will keep recommending him. Very thankful every day for being referred to Dr. Walsh.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
