5.0 star star star star starMy appointment with Melissa was really eye-opening. I learned a lot from her analyses of my blood glucose patterns and typical daily food intake. She made important suggestions of how to modify my choices for meals and snacks, including a greater concentration on proteins, and giving more attention to the types of carbohydrates I was choosing. During the first three days after my appointment I made changes that gave me dramatically different results. I shopped with new goals in mind, and I'm very pleased with the pointers that she gave me. I look forward to a followup appointment in a couple of months.

5.0 star star star star starMy above comment tells it all. We liked Melissa Sujak very much with the information she gave us and helping us understand where we are going wrong. We plan to revisit her in July for any adjustments in our diet.

5.0 star star star star starMelissa has given me so many good ideas and has been so instrumental in my learning to control my Type-1. I realized on the 146 home today that her approach has been very methodical over the past few visits. First, a few months back, she talked to me about what I do/eat late at night which effects my glucose during sleeping hours. Then she backed it out and gave me great direction on my evening meal decisions. Today, she brought it all together and we talked about my lunch decisions. I took so many notes today. One of the best visits I have ever had with a healthcare provider. Over the past few months, she has shifted my thinking in small manageable increments and I have gotten to see some success thanks to her guidance. I appreciate that immensely.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
