4.0 star star star star star_borderI have met with her before, years ago. This time was better because I came with deeper questions and am more prepared to learn and make changes. At previous appointments she has presented me with pharmaceutical company produced literature about a plate and what goes on it. It was too simple, and at the same time not detailed enough. I don't eat like a chicken breast, a half a sweet potato and the rest broccoli for every meal, or any meal. We did talk about breakfast choices and snacks back then, somewhat helpful. But this round I came with questions about how my new CGM can help me adjust what and when I'm eating. The resulting conversation was much more helpful and she was able to answer my questions and help me potentially change behaviors.

5.0 star star star star starMelissa is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. She genuinely cares about her patients and wants you to be successful in making adjustments to your eating habits and reaching your goals. She takes time to listen to you and shares wonderful advice, suggestions, and options. Although her primary concern is nutrition, she also gave me advice on improving insulin resistance by walking for 20 minutes after a meal. She has a very well-rounded approach to helping her patients improve their health.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
