Intervention For Nicotine Dependence, Education, Prevention, Tobacco and Health

Intervention for Nicotine Dependence, Education, Prevention, Tobacco and Health (INDEPTH) is a convenient, positive alternative to suspension or citation that helps schools and communities address teen e-cigarette use in a more supportive way. Instead of solely focusing on punitive measures, INDEPTH is an interactive program that teaches students about nicotine dependence, establishing healthy alternatives, and how to overcome unhealthy substance dependence.

The program was developed by the American Lung Association and consists of four 1-hour sessions. INDEPTH educates students on the impact of tobacco use in teens, the long-term health consequences, and other skills to support teens in quitting or reducing their tobacco product use. Every student who has taken part in INDEPTH has expressed an interest in quitting and starting the N-O-T tobacco cessation program for teens.
