Symptoms of Osteomyelitis

Symptoms of osteomyelitis depend on the location and severity of the infection and inflammation. Symptoms can include:

• Tenderness, warmth and pain at the infection site
• Redness and swelling at the infection site
• Fever and chills
• Nausea
• Pus or other drainage from the wound
• Lower back pain or stiffness (if the spine is infected)
• Limping due to pain
• Trouble bearing weight, using an arm or moving joints
