Surgical Services

Northwestern Medicine Palos Hospital has 14 state-of-the-art operating suites. These house all the necessary equipment to perform a variety of inpatient and outpatient procedures. The surgical area also includes four endoscopy suites and a minor surgery room. Additionally, an interventional radiology suite offers advanced imaging technologies within a surgical suite for interventional radiological, vascular, cardiac and orthopaedic procedures. The dual-procedure operating suite can accommodate both open and closed surgical procedures.

Robotic-Assisted Surgery

We offer a robust robotic-assisted surgery program. With three da Vinci® surgical robots available, surgeons can perform delicate procedures in small spaces within the body. This system enables the use of minimally invasive techniques, which can lead to:

  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Faster recovery
  • Less scarring
  • Lower risk of complications

Northwestern Medicine Outpatient Surgery

Northwestern Medicine Outpatient Surgery allows care teams to offer a more efficient and comfortable experience for both patients and their families. The facility meets the needs of all patients undergoing any invasive procedure, whether it is a surgical, interventional radiology or endoscopy procedure.

Inpatients and outpatients also receive pre-procedure care within this area.

After their procedure, patients go to the recovery area. From there:

  • Inpatients return to their private room to continue healing
  • Outpatients return to the Outpatient Surgery area to prepare to go home through a private discharge door, or up to a hospital room for additional care
