Visitors in Postpartum Unit

Visitors in Postpartum Unit

For the continued safety of patients, physicians, staff and the community, Northwestern Medicine has implemented visitor restrictions in all of our inpatient and outpatient care sites. See updated information and visitor exceptions here.

We encourage ample time for mothers to rest and bond with the new baby but welcome patients to have visitors during their stay in the Postpartum Unit. Visiting hours are from 9:00 am to 8:30 pm every day, and siblings are welcome during this time.

You may have one adult support person stay with you overnight. While there is no limit to the number of visitors during visitor hours, the room size may make it uncomfortable for more than two to three visitors at once. We want to be respectful of other patients and families, so additional visitors can use the visitor lounge, located on each Postpartum Unit, while waiting to visit.

For the health and safety of you, your baby and all of our patients, people who are sick should not visit. Please have all visitors wash their hands upon entering and exiting the room.

There may be times during the year (such as during flu season) in which visitation is restricted based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)* and the hospital guidelines.
