5.0 star star star star starThe previous MCO reputation and NM affiliation alone have earned a positive reputation. Dr Savan Patel’s decision to reach out to the neurologist on my behalf was, as a lay person, an impressive gesture because two doctors were communicating with one another and unfortunately, that doesn’t happen very often. That doctor’s test result was most helpful and gave Dr Savan Patel the information he needed to give me direction. And so going back today was an easy decision. Confidence is such an important part of the process . . . for which I am grateful.

5.0 star star star star starAlthough he was thoughtful and quick I’m not sure he looked at my chart. He said something about arthritis not needing surgery unless it got worse but I was there for a miniscus tear in my knee not arthritis.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Patel was friendly and kept me fully informed about what was happening. I got an injection and he was quick and gentle; no pain at all. Then he explained what to expect going forward and let me know that if this doesn’t work we can still explore other options.

3.0 star star star star_border star_borderMy initial consultation was incomplete, focusing only on the ankle. I expected a more thorough analysis. In the end, I felt I had to diagnose my problem in order to get to the proper medical specialist.

3.0 star star star star_border star_borderI felt kind of rushed through the visit, with little time spent with Dr. Patel, and not much information given about what was coming next. I did get 2 appointments for other doctors, but don't know how these relate to my lower back pain issues. I suppose I'll find out Monday at the first test appointment.

5.0 star star star star starPatel was good and made me feel comfortable before surgery. I would have liked to talk with him myself after surgery. He called my wife after surgery but we would prefer to see him in person to better know what to expect, get instructions from him, and be able to ask questions. Call was too brief. I do, however, understand his busy schedule.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
