5.0 star star star star starEvery time. She is a professional in her field. We researched what we could about her before surgery. She has written many papers and held seminars on hernia surgery. She did the shouldice repair on me.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Melland-Smith did a good job in my opinion. While I wasn't awake during the surgery (a good thing!), now two weeks after the surgery, I'm having a little discomfort, which I think would be expected.

5.0 star star star star starDuring a time when I was feeling completely out of hope due to my ongoing complications, she has been truly amazing. Her support, compassion, and dedication made an incredibly difficult situation feel more manageable. She consistently took the time to listen, explain things clearly, and advocate for me when I needed it most. Her professionalism combined with genuine kindness helped restore my confidence and sense of hope. I am deeply grateful for the care and reassurance she provided during such a challenging period.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
