5.0 star star star star starDr. Hungness never failed to explain in detail what would be the procedures involved in my surgery. He personally called me several times before the surgery with details of scheduling and procedure. In the operating room (I don't know if it was for my benefit or for the affirmation and clarification of all involved) those involved in the procedure, with military precision, identified themselves and announced their individual assignments. I am sure this declaration routine was established by Dr. Hungness and surely was assuring to the patient. After difficulty with eating and drinking after my discharge I went to the ER of my local hospital hoping they would give me much needed fluids. After a terrifying interpretation of a resultant CT I was readmitted to Northwestern. Dr. Hungness stepped in to resume my inpatient care with a logical explanation of my problem. He was always calm, never rushed and explained everything thoroughly. When I was readmitted I realize that my case could have been transferred to another surgeon on call. I realize also that Dr. Hungness monitored my case and resumed my care...which gave me great peace of mind. His explanation of the misinterpretation of the CT scan by my local hospital was logical, not fault finding and reflective of his humility and grace.

5.0 star star star star starI came to him because I had a medical condition that required a medication that was ravaging my body. He fixed the condition and now I am off the medication and don’t have to worry about the side effects.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
