5.0 star star star star starDr. Smith has gone above and beyond several times for me. Not only is he a an incredibly skilled surgeon, but he also responds to messages and really goes out of his way to figure out what is going on, including reaching out to other doctors. He’s worked hard to help me with this issue.

5.0 star star star star starHe is Mayo trained and an expert. He has excellent “bedside” manner. He makes sure you understand everything he tells you. He answers any and all questions with an explanation. He is kind, respectful, and condition.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Smith does not rush you and makes you feel like you are the total focus at the moment! He explains things, I would ask questions and he did not rush through an answer. He seem to be in no hurry at all which sometimes you run into that problem when you’re visiting doctors, but not with him!

5.0 star star star star starHis demeanor was not distant and officious. Rather, he was thorough, asked for my input, repeatedly asked if I had questions, and seemed very genuine. I did have some questions, and he patiently heard me out. I came away from the whole thing thinking "Yeah, this is a guy I can trust."

5.0 star star star star starDr. Smith had always been a kind and caring physician. He knows his Medicine. I appreciate the fact that when he found out I was scheduled for Open Heart Surgery in January he looked up the Surgeon who was going to do the procedure. Dr. Smith reassured me that I would be in good hands. He told me he was a good man. I thought that was nice of him to find out who was doing the surgery.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
