Our provider, Dr Lia Bernardi, takes the time to provide truly patient centered care. She has sat with us through our lowest points in this journey and instills hope that we will reach our family goals. My wife and I feel like Dr Bernardi is a partner in our care, laying out all paths with information so we can make informed decisions. We would have stopped this process long ago if it wasn't for her and the FRM team.

Dr. Bernardi is a gem and I hope Northwestern keeps her on the team at all cost. Not only does her expertise shine through every step of the way, she is possibly the most compassionate, kind and generous doctor I have ever encountered when receiving treatment, especially with a top level specialist. The most important aspect of that has been the impression that she has time built into her schedule to give me time during our appointments. The fact that she has genuine time to hear my concerns and questions and answer them thoughtfully has been one of the most significant factors of this. I told Dr. Bernardi that it was worth changing to a more expensive insurance plan to be able to be with her. And, assuming that the hospital continues to allow her to have this type of high-quality time for patients, I would recommend 1000 times to any person going through infertility to wait it out to work with Dr. Bernardi. She is no doubt the gold standard of what every person should experience when going through infertility treatment.

With Dr. Bernardi, I feel heard and cared for. I feel confident that care plan has been tailored to me and my husband's personal journey to have a child. She doesn't rush, even though I know she has a full schedule. Kind, compassionate, and obviously an expert.

Same as above. She was very compassionate, so I am likely to if I was in a position to recommend this type of care.

One of the most down to earth physicians I've ever worked with. Dr. Bernardi cares about her couples and their outcomes. She helps make you feel like more than a number.

External Professional Relationships

Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
