Oh, I just stated that above. Dr. Mesulam, as I just said, "knows more about what I am dealing with than anyone else in this world. He is SO smart, so helpful, so kind, so wise. I come all the way from Kentucky to see him once a year. And I am so grateful that he diagnosed me when some other people couldn't because they didn't know much about PPA." I will also add that he has given me strong suggestions for moving forward. He told me this week to concentrate on what I'm good at (that's the way I am remembering, I am not quoting him exactly), and those words are SO helpful to me. I am making a list of what I'm good at and planning to do what he said. Also, in an internet meeting that he did he said that "there is more to life than words." And while I know that, I had not thought about it specifically, and it has fed my heart and soul. God bless Dr. Mesulam, who is so wonderful.

Dr. Mesulam is world renowned in his field. In my opinion, there is no one better. I know I am blessed to have him as my neurologist.

Dr. Mesulam was thorough in giving me a 'second opinion' on my care, with a diagnosis of very early Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Mesulam had reviewed all my records before our appointment and was well prepared to examine and question me. His answers to my questions and his advice were both logically explained. I felt reassured about his recommendation for my future treatment and was also very grateful for wise and important lifestyle change recommendations. Having read so much about Dr. Mesulam prior to my appointment, I felt complete confidence in accepting advice from such an outstanding authority. I am so grateful to be under his care.

External Professional Relationships

Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
