5.0 star star star star starHe took his time discussing his plan to diagnose what pain etc. is coming from where with needing to complete 2 diagnostic procedures. He went over MRI of cervical with me and further discussions to take place after results are in. He seems very knowledgable and was easy to talk to. I felt comfortable with him because he was personable and knowledgeable.

5.0 star star star star starHe’s a real caring professional, who in one visit has convinced me he is the doctor that I need for my situation. I’ve been playing around with a doctor at Rush Pain Clinic for over a year with no results that were noticeable I came to Dr. Patel for a second opinion, however, if he will take me as a patient, I intend for him to be my guiding position in this situation again, thank you for this wonderful professional doctor

5.0 star star star star starDr Patel is absolutely excellent in my opinion. He is clearly highly intelligent and addresses all my many questions and concerns with a sense of ease, and yet a very direct approach, all elements which are highly important to me and enable me to be focused on the next task at hand. I always leave with a good plan for my continued spine health that is clear and makes sense to me. I come away feeling hopeful and less anxious about having an aging spine with all its issues. I feel well-cared for.

5.0 star star star star starDr Patel clearly is extremely intelligent, focused, precise and helps me to know what to expect, what to do and guides me in how to think about all the complex issues of my back in terms and explanations that I as a layperson can understand. This is very important to me. He gives me a clear plan for the next steps based on the new information I bring in and has done that each time I have been to see him. He is a spine surgeon. That is his job, but I get the idea that the very last option we would choose is opening up my back, at least not until he has explored every angle, every aspect of all the many issues going on with my back so that the best choices can be made for my overall long-term health. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

3.0 star star star star_border star_borderHe talked over me. He Didn’t take time to understand my individual needs. He was insensitive and failed to “read the room†as he shared difficult information. I felt as if he treated me like a textbook scenario and not a unique person.

5.0 star star star star starDr Patel and Leigh were perfect. It is frustrating and disheartening to deal with chronic illness, constant doctor's appointments, blood tests, imaging, etc. But this experience was so easy. Leigh helped me get everything set up perfectly in advance and Dr. Patel explained everything so I understood immediately. After so much struggle I feel relief when things go like this. That is the difference between an average experience and an excellent experience. I'm grateful to them both and to Northwestern Hospitals.

5.0 star star star star starDr Patel is forthright, clear, direct, obviously extremely knowledgable, skilled and seemingly brilliant and tells me in laymen’s terms which I can understand and need, what he can do and what he can’t do. He does this all in the framework of being upbeat, positive and in complete faith that he is going to find the best way forward for my back, which is exactly what I want in my back surgeon. This instills the trust I need to move forward with a big surgery that had never been in my life plans.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
