5.0 star star star star starI first saw Dr. Yao for a second opinion. She was familiar with my medical condition, and explained the fistulas and other possible indicators, based on her experience. She was very clear about explaining my surgery, while indicating that part needed to be exploratory. There was a need to bring in 2 Specialists for the surgery, which she also explained. Dr. Yao has always offered me excellent care, encouraged me to ask questions, and has worked well with my family and myself. I am very grateful to have found Dr. Yao, and will continue to see her as needed.

5.0 star star star star starShe took my concerns seriously, and proceeded with surgery. I've been dealing with this issue for years. It was hard to get to the colorectal surgeons, but once I saw Dr. Yao everything moved quickly and I'm really happy about that.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
