How is transverse myelitis diagnosed?

Your healthcare provider will review your medical history. They will also do a physical exam. Because transverse myelitis can be caused by a number of conditions, your provider may want to test for some of those diseases. Tests may include:

• MRI
• Blood tests
• Lumbar puncture (spinal tap)
