She is like a breath of fresh air. She shows compassion and is not a "just the facts" type of doctor. She laid out the complicated transplant process in a clear manner without a need to create diagrams though I imagine she would be happy to do so if requested. Her manner is warm, patient and you know she gets how one is feeling. I like that she was straightforward. Has a sense of humor which is key. She provided the encouragement I needed. I left feeling that I am in very good hands. She is part of a team which is very reassuring to me.

Luckily, I don't know anyone in need of a hematologist/oncologist but if so, I would highly recommend Dr Adekola and the team of NWH not only for this specialty or anything else. For those living in Chicago, why would they choose to go to any less facility!?!??

Dr. Adekola saved my life. Every case is different. Every case requires the ability to think outside of the box, mine included. Dr. Adekola, along with Melissa Duffy, figured mine out. I’m forever in their debt.

The anxiety that comes with being a cancer patient can be very overwhelming and Dr. Adekola has a very calming personality and her professionalism really extends so much confidence that makes a patient realize that they are really under the best of care with her.

Dr. Adekola has been my Dr for several years and all of my consultations and meetings with her have been most informative and she is a very effective communicator with the ability to explain lab result information in a way that makes sense to me as a patient. She always has answers to whatever questions that I may have during my visit too as do all of the nurses and lab technicians too.

From the very beginning of the The likelihood that I was candidate for a stem cell transplant, Dr Adekola explained everything and answered all the questions I had at the time. It was as a lot to absorb but I always felt confident in her care.

There is no way a cancer patient could find themselves under better personal compassionate care and advice than what it would be like to be treated by Dr. Adekola. She is an amazing woman and definitely a credit to the department as a whole too.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg. To learn more about our Disclosure and Professional Integrity Policy, and the conflict of interest policies of our joint affiliate survey partners, please go to our Office for Regulatory Affairs Policies page.
