5.0 star star star star starI have been seeing Dr Hirano for my EoE for about 10 years. His diagnostic and surgical skills are outstanding. However, what makes him a truly special and amazing doctor is his bedside manner. He is very calming, never rushed and takes time to make sure I, as the patient, understand everything.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Hirano is a renown doctor in the treatment of esophagus issues, and he resolved a swallowing program that was impacting tremendously on my quality of life issues. Through medical procedures that he executed and subsequent medication, my swallowing problems were resolved and continue to be so several years later. I now meet with him once a year and those encounters are so enjoyable and pleasant since he is such a patient oriented doctor. He is one of a kind, and I can't say enough how much I respect him.

5.0 star star star star starHe is determined to resolve the problem. If something doesn’t work he continues treating until it’s resolved. I developed H Polaris. He tried several antibiotics nothing worked. For years the dermatologist determine that I was allergic to penicillin. He arranged for me to get retested. The new test showed that I was no longer allergic and could take penicillin. He took the extra step.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Hirano is one of the most knowledgeable and compassionate physicians I have ever had the privilege to meet. I am extremely grateful he is my physician. His care team is also exceptional. Sonia, his RN, is absolutely lovely and on top of everything & Hirano, his scheduler, will do everything she can to get you in when you need to be seen. I gladly drive the 3.5-4 hours to be seen here. Their endoscopy suite providers are all caring, compassionate, and understand their specialties throughly. I’ve never had so much as a mediocre experience in this clinic, and I have complex concerns. Thanks for all the exceptional work!!

3.0 star star star star_border star_borderHe is a very caring doctor but he was vague and inconclusive about what was my diagnosis and what treatment if any there might be. Instead he recommended cognitive behavioral therapy and exploring possible food allergies.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
