5.0 star star star star starDr. James Flaherty is genuinely warm n friendly n speaks in terms you can understand. My relationship with him began in 2013. He has been my Doctor through several procedures. He is always available to answer any concerns n he relays info n opinions in a non threatening manner. I can’t recommend him enough.

5.0 star star star star starHe is very likable and personable. He engages you and asks questions about you and your family. Makes you feel you are nor just another sick person. He is honest and frank and explains what is going on thoroughly.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Flaherty could not have been nicer during my session with him and gave me a very positive report. I'm certain that he would relate well to any other patient to whom he had to give a less positive report.

5.0 star star star star starDr. James D Flaherty is one of the most down to earth, sincere and kind doctors I've ever met. He is professional yet very friendly and explains things completely and with words a layman can understand. I feel he is extremely current and knowledgeable and perhaps that is why he is the Director of his department. Can't say enough or well he is thought of...Additionally, Dr. Flaherty spent as much time as I needed and did not rush through our meeting. So very grateful ...

4.0 star star star star star_borderHe addressed all my questions thoroughly and professionally. I am disappointed neither he, the nurse intervened on my behalf to get my INR through Coumadin Clinic to give me dosing instructions.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Flaherty exemplifies all the sterling qualities I mentioned above. Moreover, he asked numerous good questions and LISTENED to the answers -- as opposed to my first cardiologist (1990s) in Indiana, whom I had to fire. Dr. F listened very carefully to my heart, and offered a reasonable hypothesis as to why my CAD symptoms have manifested much worse recently than they did in 2020. He also (TENTATIVELY) recommended skipping costly unnecessary stress-testing and progressing straight to angiography. And he chose angiography over open-heart surgery -- which I do not want to endure a second time.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
