5.0 star star star star starDr. Benson has helped me twice with my cancers. He and my Oncologist at Lutheran Gen'l Hospital agreed on the same course of treatment. I have contacted him for the second time regarding my cancers which have come back. He is very thorough and I will call him next week (at his suggestion).

5.0 star star star star starDr. Benson seems extremely knowledgeable and experienced in his field. He cited current research and was honest about the implications and limitations for my specific case. His bedside manner is calming, confident and personable, and he didn't rush the appointment as is often the case. He took the time to answer all of my questions as a new patient to his practice and offered to share my results with my oncologist at the institution from which I am transferring care to keep him in the loop. He also reminded me about getting a flu shot and ensured that I had access to it before I left clinic saving me an unnecessary return trip. This was one of the least stressful and anxiety producing check ups I've had in a long time. Thank you, Dr. Benson!

5.0 star star star star starMy experience thus far in my cancer journey with Northwestern has exceeded my expectations. Dr. Benson and his team have shown such care and compassion each time I've met or talked with them. As a nurse I know how to advocate for others however, it's a different experience to be advocating for myself. This team has treated me with the utmost excellence!

5.0 star star star star starHe is patient, a great listener, knowledgeable and able to translate complicated medical terms so those with limited medical/science background understand their condition or treatment...I left the appointment with a good understanding of my condition, why specific tests were or were not selected and the rationale for next steps.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
