Diagnosing Your Injury
The Northwestern Medicine Sports Medicine team has extensive experience diagnosing injuries related to sports and other activities. Knowing what caused your injury will ensure you receive the best treatment possible.
The first step in creating your personalized treatment plan is to get a full understanding of your injury. Your diagnosis may involve:
- Discussing your symptoms, and personal and medical history with sports medicine experts
- Sharing medical records of previous imaging and surgeries, if applicable
- Medical imaging, including X-rays, computerized tomography (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- Nerve function tests
