Training the Next Generation of Healthcare Leaders

Our goal is to attract and retain top talent in a culture that values innovation, excellence and the highest level of scholarship. The Harrison Administrative Fellowship Program is a key part of our work in pursuit of that goal.

To give you an immersive experience, our 18-month post-graduate fellowship program offers exposure to Northwestern Memorial Hospital — the academic medical center that anchors our system — and our network of hospitals in the Chicago suburbs. As a fellow, you’ll interact with the hospital management teams, medical leaders and campus collaborators.

We know it’s vital to get exposure to all aspects of healthcare operations so you have a robust experience to build on. By the end of the program, fellows should have gained an understanding of:

  • Clinical operations
  • Support services operations
  • Business development
  • Physician relations
  • Hospital finance
  • Community relations
  • Government relations

Our program is named in honor of Dean M. Harrison, who joined Northwestern Memorial HealthCare in 1998 and served as its fourth chief executive officer for over 16 years. During that time, Northwestern Medicine evolved into an 11-hospital integrated academic health system. Our program’s legacy stretches over 40 years, helping build the next generation of healthcare leaders and leaving an impact across our health system and on many former fellows.
