Breast Surgery Overview

There are several types of breast surgery. Your specialized breast surgeon will discuss your surgery options with you. Whether it’s a nonsurgical biopsy, treatment of an infection or an advanced surgical procedure, our board-certified surgeons work side-by-side with you to deliver the most compassionate and personalized care.

Areas Of Care

Our Breast Surgery Program is located at the Lynn Sage Comprehensive Breast Center at Northwestern Medicine Prentice Women's Hospital. Our specialists know that the modern management of breast disease requires an in-depth knowledge of not only surgery, but also:

The Lynn Sage Breast Center is a state-of-the-art facility offering patients the advantage of having all of their surgical care in the same building. The surgical staff includes four fellowship–trained breast surgeons, two PGY-6 breast fellows, and four breast nurse clinicians.

Patients are evaluated on the fourth floor where we have both the Breast Imaging department and the surgical clinic, they undergo surgery on the sixth floor in the operating rooms and are admitted to the fourteenth floor where they can recuperate in private rooms.

The Breast Health Centers in the Western Suburbs have received a number of special designations in the care of patients with breast disease and breast cancer, marking us as one of the top programs in the region.

Both Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital and Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital are proud to be recognized as American College of Radiology Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence. Central DuPage Hospital and Delnor Hospital are also recognized by the prestigious National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) through the American College of Surgeons.

This accreditation is given to centers that undergo a rigorous evaluation process, and comply with stringent NAPBC standards for treating women diagnosed with a wide variety of breast disease. A breast center that achieves NAPBC accreditation has demonstrated a firm commitment to offering its patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast disease.

Behind these designations is a deep and enduring commitment to women’s health, one that gives you the peace of mind knowing that talented, experienced caregivers are here to guide you with knowledge, compassion, respect and education to help you make the best decisions about your own care.
